Abu Dhabi is set to take the spotlight as Indian Idol films a special episode in the UAE for the first time. The iconic music reality show will feature a dedicated segment shot at Yas Island, marking a major moment in the programme’s international journey.
Sony Pictures Networks India confirmed that the show’s popular “Yaadon Ki Playlist” theme will be presented on a global platform. The move signals a new chapter for the long-running franchise as it expands its reach beyond India.
Star Power Adds to the Occasion
The special episode will also feature acclaimed playback singer and composer Madhubanti Bagchi as a guest. Recognised for her dynamic vocal range, she has performed hit songs including Aaj Ki Raat, Peelings and Shararat, along with several well-loved Bengali tracks. Her appearance is expected to add further excitement to the Abu Dhabi showcase.
A Global Stage for Emerging Talent
Over the years, Indian Idol has built its reputation as a leading talent hunt that discovers and mentors aspiring singers. Judge Vishal Dadlani described the Yas Island episode as a defining experience for contestants. He noted that performing on an international stage strengthens confidence and sharpens ambition.
Dadlani also highlighted the growing global appetite for Indian music. According to him, hosting the episode at Yas Island gives participants exposure to wider audiences and prepares them for opportunities in the international music industry.

Fellow judge Badshah said filming in Abu Dhabi brings a fresh sense of energy to the competition. Performing outside India, he added, allows contestants to feel the scale of the platform and boosts their self-belief.
