Sharjah Light Festival 2026: A Spectacular Display of Illuminated Narratives
The Sharjah Light Festival wrapped up its 15th edition under the theme “Lights That Tell Our Story.” Organised by the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, the event ran from February 3 to 15, 2026, drawing strong crowds and wide media coverage.
Over 13 days, visitors from across the UAE and abroad gathered to experience large-scale light projections across 13 locations in the emirate. The festival once again positioned Sharjah as a centre for culture, creativity, and artistic innovation.
A Platform for Art, Heritage and Technology
This year’s edition blended advanced digital techniques with storytelling inspired by Sharjah’s heritage and architecture. International artists presented immersive shows that reflected the emirate’s identity, history, and urban growth.Through projection mapping and interactive technology, landmarks were transformed into living canvases. Each installation combined visual spectacle with cultural meaning, creating experiences that connected past and present.
Landmark Shows Across the Emirate
Several major sites hosted signature performances. The opening projection at the Dr Sultan Al Qasimi Centre.Titled “A Journey Through Time: A Legacy of Belonging,” set the tone for the festival. Other highlights included “Glowing Serenity” at Sharjah Mosque, “Rock of History” at Al Rafisah Dam in Khorfakkan, and “The Infinite Fort” at Al Dhaid Fort.Audiences also experienced “Dreamers’ Haven” at Kalba Hanging Gardens, “Crafted Lights of the Peninsula” at Al Tayari Mosque in Dibba Al Hisn, and “Light Between Words” at the House of Wisdom. Additional displays illuminated Khorfakkan Waterfall, Al Hamriyah Public Market, and Sharjah Fort.
Beyond projections. The festival featured illuminated sculptures and installations. Such as “Path of Light” at Kalba Waterfront. “Threads of Memory” at Aljada, and “Pulse of Belonging” at Al Majaz Waterfront.
Closing Ceremony and Official Recognition
The closing ceremony took place at the House of Wisdom and was attended by senior officials. Artners, sponsors, volunteers, and media representatives. He noted that the event attracted large audiences and combined architectural beauty with modern interactive technology. He also highlighted the ongoing “Light Village”, Which continues until February 22, offering families a lively space featuring national projects and interactive experiences.
Community Support and Economic Boost
Beyond its artistic impact, the festival strengthened its community focus. Start-ups and small and medium-sized national businesses were given space to showcase their products and ideas. The young Emiratis also gained hands-on experience. By volunteering at different festival sites. “Sharjah Light Run” brought together more than 500 participants of different ages and nationalities. And encouraging healthy living and community spirit.Meanwhile, the Light Village hosts over 75 national projects and provides workshops, family entertainment, and a children’s play area. Together. These initiatives helped boost tourism, support local businesses. And reinforce the festival’s role in enhancing the quality of life across the emirate.
