How Narin Ammara Turned a Simple Idea into a Maserati Collaboration
Narin Ammara credits many of her recent successes to a simple idea. At the start of 2018, she told a friend about wanting to work on a car-related project – something she hadn’t attempted previously – something which soon manifested into an opportunity to collaborate with Maserati on an unexpected magazine cover shoot; for Ammara this moment served as proof that her vision had come to fruition.
The collaboration also reflects how quickly her career is accelerating. Ammara recently launched her own beauty brand, Narins Beauty, building on the massive audience she has developed online. Her direct-to-consumer business model is already attracting attention in the beauty industry for challenging traditional approaches.
Building a Global Audience
Ammara Al-Maria has amassed an incredible following across various social media platforms since she first began uploading beauty content onto YouTube as early as 2014 when she began uploading makeup and hair tutorials for viewers worldwide to view. Since 2014 when Ammara first started uploading tutorials onto YouTube at just 15 years old she has garnered over 50 Million followers in total across different channels.
Sherin first encouraged the idea of creating an online presence through blogging as a fun experiment; over time however, this soon developed into something far larger that connected millions of viewers around the globe.
Early Inspiration From Family
Ammara first experienced her passion for beauty long before the internet existed. Often visiting Syria with her extended family, many of which owned hair salons which she would spend hours watching and learning from.
She remembers asking her mother to take her to a salon so she could practice styling her own hair, which gave birth to the dream that one day she might open up her own salon or work in beauty-related fields.
Finding Connection Through Content
Ammara found her move from Syria to Sweden difficult due to war; language proved challenging, leaving her feeling overwhelmed in her new environment. With five children under her care and no close relationships nearby, Ammara quickly turned to online networking as her primary means of making connections outside her immediate circle.
Ammara found YouTube videos a powerful tool in feeling less isolated. What started out as a means of sharing beauty tips quickly became an opportunity to interact with like-minded individuals who shared similar experiences.
A Community Built on Authenticity
At first, she wasn’t prepared for how wide-reaching her content would reach; many viewers began turning to her for advice not only on makeup application but also how to deal with online negativity and bullying.
